Connect it

Claude (web, desktop, mobile)

  1. Open Customize → Connectors and click Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Azure VM Pricing and paste the server URL.
  3. If asked about authentication, choose No sign-in.

Free plans can add one custom connector. Team and Enterprise: an Owner adds it under Organization settings.

ChatGPT

  1. Turn on Developer mode in Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings.
  2. In Apps & Connectors, click Create and paste the server URL.
  3. Choose No authentication.

What is an MCP server?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call external tools. With this server connected, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or Cursor answer Azure VM questions from real list prices instead of guessing from training data.

Is it free? Do I need an API key?

It is free, with no account and no API key. The remote server runs on cld2day.com; the same tools are also available as an npm package (azure-vm-pricing-mcp) that runs on your own machine.

What data does the server see?

Only the tool arguments the assistant sends, such as VM sizes, regions and hours per month. It does not receive your conversation, sets no cookies and needs no sign-in. All tools are read-only.

How fresh are the prices?

The catalog is rebuilt every Monday from the Azure Retail Prices API and az vm list-skus. Every answer includes the date of the prices it used.
