cld2day turns Microsoft's public price list into straight answers: which VM size fits, which region is cheapest, and whether a reservation actually pays off. Free, no sign-up, no ads.

Why cld2day exists

Most Azure cost questions are simple to ask and slow to answer: What is the cheapest 8 vCPU VM in West Europe? Is a 3-year reservation worth it if the VM is off at night? The official calculator answers one scenario at a time, and third-party lists rarely show the reservation maths. cld2day was built to answer these in seconds, with the numbers shown.

How the data is built

  • Specs come from az vm list-skus in 24 Azure regions.
  • Prices come from Microsoft's public Azure Retail Prices API: USD list prices for Linux and Windows pay as you go, 1- and 3-year reservations and savings plans. Spot and Low Priority meters are excluded.
  • Reservations are published as a term total; they are converted to an effective hourly rate and always counted at 730 hours a month, because Azure bills them whether the VM runs or not.
  • Everything is refreshed every Monday, and what changed is published on the price changes page.

These are list prices before taxes and negotiated discounts (EA, MCA, CSP). Always confirm a final quote in your own Azure agreement.

The full dataset is open on GitHub as JSON and CSV under CC BY 4.0: vdionisopoulos/azure-vm-pricing. The same repository includes an open-source MCP server, so Claude, GitHub Copilot or Cursor can answer Azure VM sizing and cost questions with this data: npx -y azure-vm-pricing-mcp.
